Welcome

The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) was founded in 1922 by women who saw a need for assistance to the families, widows and orphans of disabled veterans, as well as the disabled veterans themselves. With membership open to family members of disabled or deceased veterans, 1,000 DAV Auxiliary nationwide units continue to serve disabled veterans, with particular emphasis on the families of those veterans.

  • Benefits: The DAV Auxiliary works closely with DAV National Service Offices throughout the country in an effort to make sure all disabled veterans and their families receive all of the benefits and services they’re entitled to by law.
  • Legislation: Auxiliary members fight to protect and improve legislation involving benefits earned by disabled veterans.
  • VA Voluntary Service: DAV and Auxiliary members donate more than 1½ million hours annually to volunteer work at VA medical facilities and are constantly recruiting new volunteers for this program.
  • Transportation: Auxiliary members are very involved within the DAV’s transportation system by serving as hospital service coordinators and van drivers.
  • Education Loans: Interest-free loans up to $2,500 per year not to exceed four years to qualifying applicant.
  • Mary Flynn Memorial Scholarship: Annual scholarship awards up to $500 to qualifying applicant.
  • Service/Support Find: Provides financial assistance to those auxiliary members who meet the eligibility requirements.

The national Auxiliary programs are not funded by the United States government, but depend totally on dues and contributions of our membership.

WHY IS YOUR MEMBERSHIP SO IMPORTANT?

— There are lots of reasons to join the DAV Auxiliary: terrific volunteer programs, an opportunity to serve disabled veterans and their families directly, a chance to help others in your community, and much, much more. But the most important reason for joining the DAV Auxiliary is quite simple. There's a pressing need to protect the benefits the disabled veteran in your life has earned for the people you care most about - your family.

— Your membership strengthens the DAV Auxiliary in its battle to defend your family from the deterioration of the benefits which help buy the groceries and pay the rent or mortgage. Just belonging to the Auxiliary accomplishes so much - long before you attend your first meeting. It also helps protect families of other disabled veterans, many of whom are less fortunate than yours.

— Take a stand against those who want to forget about what war has done to the lives of so many veterans, including the veteran you love. Send a strong and clear message to all national leaders who would ignore the sacrifices that your loved one has made for our country. Keep our nation mindful of the needs of your family and the families of other disabled veterans. That's why your membership in the DAV is so important, and that's why you should join the DAV Auxiliary today.

— There are two types of membership in the DAV Auxiliary - annual membership and life membership, both are explained on our application form (PDF 13KB) . Your annual membership will lend strong support in our battle to defend disabled veterans and families like your own. And with a life membership, you'll seal your commitment to the Auxiliary, your disabled veteran and your family for life.
